#1 Fonthill Museum, Doylestown

Fonthill was chosen for the number one spot in our Bucks County Weddings survey because it is unique. There is no other place that matches its grandeur, beauty and romance. It is unlike any other place anywhere in the world. It is one of the American Castles that PBS featured in its series. This exotic house and the gorgeous expansive grounds that surround it are simply incredible. #2 Pen Ryn Mansion, Bensalem

Pen Ryn Mansion was chosen for the number two spot in our survey because of the grandeur of its beauty and its unique location on the Delaware River in Southern Bucks County. The main mansion dating back to 1744, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the centerpiece of this impressive hundred acre estate. The actual name of the facility is The Pen Ryn Mansion and Belle Voir Manor. The Mercer was chosen for the number three spot in our top 10 list because it is one of the most impressive buildings in Bucks County. This historic six story structure, which houses an important collection of Americana, makes for a fantastic backdrop for a wedding and the Elkins Gallery that is used for weddings and elaborate celebrations is a marvelous ballroom. #4 Holly Hedge Estate, New Hope

Barley Sheaf was chosen for the number five spot in our survey because of the size and beauty of the farm. This is a true Bucks County Estate with over one hundred acres of pastures and woodlands. Barley Sheaf is located in beautiful Buckingham Pennsylvania, down a long tree lined lane. This gorgeous Mercer Mansion built in the style of an English Tudor manor has been the site of grand events since it was built in 1927. The mansion has a gigantic ballroom that is perfect for grand wedding celebrations and the entire facility is exceptionally photogenic with its terraces, fountains and wide garden paths. #7 Pearl S. Buck Estate, Perkasie

The Pearl S. Buck House was chosen for the number seven spot in our survey because of the beauty of the historic 1834 farmhouse, the gardens, the grounds and the beautiful flagstone terrace. The estate located in the Northern Bucks County community of Perkasie was the home of the famous writer and humanitarian, Pearl S. Buck. 8. Pennsbury Manor, Morrisville

Pennsbury Manor was chosen for the number eight spot in our survey because of the grandness of the estate and its history. Of all of the facilities in our survey this one has the best pedigree; being the home of William Penn, founder of the state of Pennsylvania. The manor is however the hardest site to book for weddings, as they only book a few events per year. If it were a little easier, it would most likely be higher in our top ten survey. #9 Washington Crossing Inn

The Washington Crossing Inn was chosen for the number ten spot in our Bucks County Weddings list because of the history of the location and the beautiful park like setting it enjoys. There were lots of contenders for this final spot in our survey but WCI was chosen because it has the ability to host larger weddings and grand celebration events. The inn is surrounded by huge old trees and expansive lawns that are perfect for tented events. Indoors there are large ballrooms that can accommodate up to 200 people. It is charming venue. New Hope is by far the most popular and well known of vacation spots in the Bucks County Pennsylvania area with it’s reputation as a funky little bohemian art town. It is the heart of the tourist trade here and has more bed and breakfast inns than any other local town.

Your choice of accommodations in Bucks County is exceptional. There are Victorian B+B’s in grand old homes. There are other ones on grand country estates surrounded by gardens and forests. There are elegant inns that are much more contemporary in their feel. There are historic old inns secluded in the country, from the early 1800′s that offer in-house restaurants and cocktail lounges. There are other inns in the midst of New Hope and Doylestown that are within walking distance of everything.

At the other end of the spectrum, Bucks County has a good number of hotels and motels for those couples seeking economical getaways and for business travelers looking for a well located hotel that is clean, safe and priced right.

In choosing New Hope as the location for your stay, you will have a world of entertainment, art galleries, funky cafes, bars and boutique shops all at your doorstep. This funky art community has the most lively nightlife in the area, with several venues for live music and dancing. New Hope has more b+b’s than any other area town, with 17 in, or close to town, and 3 motels. Distances + Travel Times: New York City to New Hope: 69 miles or 1.5 hours, Philadelphia to New Hope: 42 miles or 1 hour, Baltimore to New Hope: 136 miles or 3 hours, Washington DC to New Hope: 178 miles or 4 hours.

In choosing Doylestown, PA, as the location for your stay, you will have the biggest and best of the area’s museums a short walk away from your bed and breakfast or your hotel. If you are coming to the area without a car, Doylestown is probably the place to choose to stay because the public transportation system is the best in Bucks County. You can take a train all the way into Philadelphia. It has 2 regular hotels, 1 hotel that offers a complimentary breakfast, and traditional 1 bed and breakfast inn. Distances + Travel Times: New York City to Doylestown: 78 miles or 2 hours, Philadelphia to Doylestown: 26 miles or 1 hour, Baltimore to Doylestown: 126 miles or 2.75 hours, Washington DC to Doylestown: 163 miles or 3.5 hours.

Upper Black Eddy Guide with a Lodging Tips:

In choosing Upper Black Eddy, PA, as the location for your stay, you will have one of the most secluded locations for your romantic weekend getaway in the area. The arts and entertainment of New Hope and Doylestown are just 30 minutes away. The dining scene is quite varied from the ethnic restaurants of Frenchtown to the fine dining restaurants located in historic old inns along River Road. Upper Black Eddy has two bed and breakfast inns.
