Best Traditional Fine Dining in Savannah: Olde Pink House

The Pink House is one of Savannah’s best restaurants regardless of what the category is. The restaurant is housed in an 18th century pink Southern mansion. The night that we went there it reminded me of my aunt Mavis’ house in Donalsonville. There’s a wonderful elegance to the place that somehow is not uncomfortable. The service, the atmosphere and the incredibly well prepared food made for one of our best dining experiences in Savannah.

Here’s an excerpt from our feature story:

The Pink House is located on one of Savannah’s most beautiful squares, Reynolds Square, on the Northern end of the historic district, a few blocks away from Bay and River Streets. It’s location is idyllic with the magnificent live oak trees covered with Spanish moss and Resurrection ferns that spread out before it on the square. The atmosphere is about as formal and traditional and “Grand Olde South” as you can get, but don’t let that scare you away. The staff is very down to earth, helpful and welcoming. The night that we visited, it was a pretty even mix of diners who were dressed up and others who were dressed down, in shorts and sport shirts.

Some of our favorites were the scored Flounder with a crispy crust served with apricot shallot sauce, artichoke fritters stuffed with goat cheese and the She Crab Soup. You can read more about their menu on our Pink House Menu page.

The restaurant is open every day for dinner and Tuesday through Saturday for lunch. You can eat in the bar downstairs if you prefer to keep things a little more casual.
